LIONS PRIZE GIVING AT ELLISPARK

The Lions yearly prize giving were held at Ellispark. An open event which was well organized and enjoyed by all participants and spectators. Our 3 rd side received the trophy for the winners of the league for the 3rd sides in the Castle Lager Pirates Grand Challenge competition.

2023 CLUB CHAMPIONS

The Fidelity Adt Elande 3rd side became the Castle Lager Pirates Grand Challenge Champions by beating Pirates Rugby Club at Alberton Rugby Club in the final. Playing with confidence from the start and sticking to the basics and coaches orders they kept on putting pressure on the opponents till the end. Final score 17 – 15 to the Elande.

FIDELITY ADT ELANDE THIRD SIDE THROUGH TO FINALS.

A historical win for the Elande against Pukke. No Player could be singled out as the player of the match. In this game the whole squad walked of the field as heroes. To beat Pukke 23-17 in a very close match it took determination and guts to hold on to this win till the end. They will meet Pirates next Saturday at Alberton in the final.

DREAM BECOMING A REALITY

After a difficult start to the season a dream became a reality. From the start of the season, all their friendlies were cancelled due to other clubs not having a 3rd side. Then the league started two game were cancelled. Game time were lacking when they actually got going. A new team was build which made it more difficult for the coaches. They kept there passion going for the game of rugby. The team got better and better they gained some more players. They got better and played for each other. Then they became friends then a family then they turned into a winning unit. They took the field yesterday with determination and one thing in mind that is a win. The coaches and management turned their change room into a fable that will never be forgotten. Well done to all players, coaches Tiny, Juan and Clinton together with managers Florrie and Michaela, you made the club proud.

PROVING TO STRONG FOR PUKKE

Playing with determination and guts from the start of the game. Some mistakes in the first 10 minutes the Elande could not find the white line for some more points. No man of the match were singled out. The whole squad walk of the field as heroes.

Preparations are going well for our 3rd side this week. A serious approach by the coaches they added an additional training session this week. All players are injuries free and looking in good shape for the semi final. A game not to be missed. Let us get behind our team and support them till the final whistle blows.

MAGIC SIDE THROUGH TO THE SEMI – FINALS

Another blunder from the men of the Elande. Playing the game of their life’s and putting pressure on Uj from the start treated the spectators to a spectacular performance which owned them a spot in the semi – finals. Uj were totally out played at the rucks and scrums. Uj never gave up they were putting a fight up till the end. Final score 20-17 to the Elande.

A PERFORMANCE BY NOTE

Fidelity ADT Elande took on Raiders with full force after they beaten the log leaders Pirates last week. This side is improving week after week. They have a semi final match in mind. On their current performance they should make it into the semi final. In this side there is a couple of players that must be favor for higher places at the club next year. At halftime they leading Raiders 14-0. Fulltime score 28-0 to the Elande.

FIDELITY ELANDE FIRES ON ALL CYLINDERS

Pirates came to Alberton to put up yet another big score as the previous away game. The current log leaders for the 3rd sides were stopped in their tracks by the Elande. Playing like the log leaders the Elande took the game to Pirates with a win against the books with a win that is well deserved sending Pirates home with a 36-29 loss.

WALK IN THE PARK FOR TITOS

Crossing the white line 5 times in one game fullback Titos Mondlane must of set a new record at the Fidelity Adt Elande. The Elande ran in nine tries on the day. A well balanced performance with new comers in the side shock their opponents in this open running performance. Final score 53-26.

VERY ENTERTAINING GAME

Both sides treated the spectators to an entertaining game. A team effort by the Elande and some individual skilled players showed with a bit of fitness they can play at a higher level. Leading 19-14 at halftime and constant pressure from the Elande the won the game by 29-21.

2ND ROUND OF CASTLE LAGER PIRATES GRAND CHALLENGE STARTS AGAINST WITS UNIVERSITY AWAY

VERY ENTERTAINING GAME TO WATCH

Wits started the game by spreading the ball to the wings which gave them the lead at half time. The 2nd half Alberton started playing with their big and mobile pack of forwards. This was the oppurtunity forn the hard running backs to score a couple of tries which gave Alberton a bonus point.

A LEARNING CURVE FOR ALBERTON

Pukke fired on all cylinders and won the game 51-0. Pukke created plenty opportunities for their outside backs to score. Alberton could not fill all holes on the defence.

Uj running in several tries through mistakes by Alberton. If Alberton can illuminate their mistakes it will not be easy for the other sides in the competition. Final score 33-5 to Uj.

After a delay in starting the game this match could not get the rhythm as expected. Alberton leading 5-0 at halftime could not cross the white line in the second half. Final score 26-8 Raiders.

MATCH FITNESS A BIG FACTOR

A lack in games and game fitness could be seen in the Alberton side. Taking the field with 5 ex first side players was not enough for the well drilled side from Pirates. Final score 50-14 to Pirates.

ALBERTON VS ROODEPOORT AT BASTION HIGH SCHOOL AWAY

The 3rd side took the field in their first actual match of the season. A very experienced side with 7 ex first side players had to wait to the last minute to clinch the game in their favor. They won the game 20-19.

ALBERTON VS WANDERERS AT HOME

The luck went against the 3rd side yesterday again when the Wanderers players transport broke down on the way to the game. The game could not take place and Alberton got full points for the game. Better luck to the coaches and players for the next game. Two games not played and full points earned. The 3rd side is a very dedicated side they have not played one game this year and still they down at training every Tuesday and Thurday nights.
