SURPRISE APPOINTMENTS FOR THE ELANDE
The Elande stepped up another level to be a new force in the Castle Lager Pirates Grand Challenge for the 2025 season. Ex Puma Currie Cup Champion captain Shane Kirkwood was appointed Director of rugby. Derek Harwood one of the best conditioning coaches in South Africa will be in charge of the fitness. Ex Lions and Australian Super Rugby player JP Smith will take charge of the 1st side as a coach. Ex Springbok and Lions fullback Andries Coetzee and Ruan Smit also ex Lions and Australian Super Rugby player will be playing for the Elande. Another player who played for the SWD Eagles Lehan Steynsburg also joined forces with the Elande. One of the leading Bio kineticists Chris Ferguson also extended his stay at the Elande.
CHAIRMAN HANGS UP HIS BOOTS
After 55 years involvement with the sport as a player, coach and administrator Chairman Louis Odendaal decided to hang up his boots to make place for the younger generation. He announced his retirement at the awards evening. He thank everybody who contributed to the club the past years. Rory Lategan will take over as the Chairman at the Elande. Odendaal was appointed Vice President of the Elande.
CALLING ALL U19 AND U21 PLAYERS TO REGISTER
Calling all players up to 20 years old to come down to the club to register for the 2025 season. The u19 s are the current open club champions for 2024. They played against Uj in the semi final and beaten them to proceed to the final against Pukke. The final score against Pukke 24-17 to Pukke. the registration of players will take place on 02 November in the players lounge at the club..
AWARDS EVENING
A huge thank you is going out to the Elands Commercial partner Stefan Fourie and his wife Carlie for arrangements made in the Club House Bar and Grill. The restaurant was packed on the evening. Awards were given to well deserved players who stood out in the 2024 season. Players who did not get any awards are winners in their own rights who contributed in The Elandes success.
SHANE KIRKWOOD NEW DIRECTOR OF RUGBY AT THE ELANDE
Alberton Rugby Club made a announcement that the Ex- Captain from the Pumas will be joining the Elande as Director of Rugby. Shane will join forces from the 1st of October. This will be the injection the Elande need to progress to the next level after a mixed season in the Pirates Grand Challenge. Shane’s knowledge and leadership will boost the coaching and players to a higher standard. The club is looking forward with Shane taking over as Director. Shane’s involvement at club level and at Marais Viljoen High School can see the sport grow from primary schools to club level.

The yearly annual awards will take place on the 10 October 24 at the club at 18h00 for 18h30.
ELAND FUTURE ENDS ON A HIGH
Open Club Champions proved again why they were playing in the final. Taking the field against Pukke was not an easy task. The Elande young guns surprised the Pukke and supporters on the nights play. The Pukke scored 1 quick try in the first half. The Elande defensive lines kept Pukke away from the white line in the 1st half. Halftime score 10-06 to Pukke. Daniel Gouws slotted a penalty and a drop goal. Again Pukke scored another 2 early tries in the second half. Then there was only one side the last 20 minutes on the field. The Elande outplayed the Pukke. The Elande were attacking from all over the field. Five squandered tries cost the Elande the game. Player 1-23 were outstanding. Pukke tried to set up attacks but were stopped in their tracks. The feature of Alberton Rugby is looking healthy. Busiswe Mngomezulu scored a try and Daniel Gouws added another 2 penalties. Final score 24-17 to Pukke.

Four u19 Lions players did the hand over of the jerseys for the u19 Elande side. It was a privilege to have Morne Venter , De Wet Fourie ( captain ), De Wet Lottering Henco Odendaal at the club for the hand over. The Lions players also received a Eland jersey and a Eland coffee mug for their visit to the club.

HISTORICAL GAME AWAITING THE ELANDE YOUNG GUNS IN FINAL
The Elande u19 open club Champions will take on Pukke from the Northwest University. This will determine who will be the Champions in the u19 Pirates Grand Challenge competition for 2024. The Elande had a good win against Uj last Saturday and Pukke had a good win against Wits University. This will be a good battle between the two sides. Calling all supporters to go the Wits and support our feature stars.
OPEN CLUB CHAMPIONS BLASTED UJ OF THE FIELD
The Elande young guns were treated at the club with a superb breakfast by the sponsor. Emotional video clips were on display with messages from family members. This was part of the motivation process before the team left by bus to Randfontein. From the start the students were pressurized. The defense from the Elande was superb. Basic rugby was played by the Elande from the start till the end. Tactical kicking was the name of the game. The students had no answer on turning around the whole time with huge pressure from behind. The general play between the backs and forwards were excellent. Uj did set up some good driving mauls from line outs and it was countered by the Elande. From both sides it was a very entertaining match. The difference between the two sides was Danny Gouws the Elande flyhalf with a great display of goal kicking. The Elande advanced through to the final against Pukke this Friday night.
U 19 ELANDE THROUGH TO SEMIFINAL
The Elande youngsters ended 3rd in the league. After a great season and a good couple of wins they deserve to play Uj in the semi final. Well done to coach Juan Marais and Chris Sutton who started working with the side in 2023. Captain Damian Kruger a player with huge talent had the opportunity to play 1st side already. A game not to be missed. Calling all supporter to support the youngsters in Randfontein.
THE ALBERTON NIGHT MARKET
This popular event will be held at the Alberton Rugby Club on 7TH September 24. This will start at 14h00 till 22h00. Entry fee will be R25 Per person and R10 for kids from 13 years old. Under 12 and Pensioners will not be charged an entry fee. Many events will happen during the day such as Street Food, Arts, Fashion, Kids play area, Craft Beers. Live Music and much more. Do not miss out on this special event. The Springboks game vs the All Blacks will be televised on the big screen.
LAST LEAUGUE GAME AGAINST UJ
The Elande will travel to the Uj stadium on Friday night to complete their commitments in the Castle Lager Pirates Grand Challenge competition for the 2024 season. Some wins will be vital for the Elande on the promotion relegation games that will take place in September or October. During the season the Elande had some close losses but the last round will determine who will be playing in the play offs.
NOT EASY FOR WITS UNIVERSITY
The day started well for the Elande when the u 21 side played the best game of their season. Great defense by the Elande secured them a win of 28-24. The 3rd side lost 47-14. Then the powerhouse u19 Elande side took the field they are currently no 3 in the league out played their counter parts by beating them 24-17. The 2nd lost 42-14. The more than favorite Wits 1st side never had it easy at all. Till the last minutes the score was still 12-10 to Wits. The Witsies score 2 tries in the last minutes and the game ended 26-10 to Wits.
ELAND LADIES MAKES ALBERTON PROUD
The Ladies took on the Wits University ladies yesterday and made the community and club very proud. Although they lost the game 35-0 against a very star loaded Wits side they gave their best to the last second of the game. Women’s rugby is improving at Alberton on a weekly basis. More ladies are joining every week. Well done to all players you making us proud.

WITS UNIVERSITY IN SIGHT AT ELAND PARK
The Elande will play host to the Wits University this coming Saturday. A Cancer drive will be held and we calling on all who will be attending the game to buy their pink ribbon for R10.00 to support the initiative. This will be the Elands’ 2nd last game for the season. A couple of wins is very important for the Elande to step up a position in the league.
CANCER DRIVE AT ELAND PARK
This coming Saturday the Eland will take on the University of the Witwatersrand. The 2024 Cancer Drive will take place at the club starting at 12h00. Calling on all supporters to wear something in pink on the day. Pink ribbons will be sold at the gate for R10.00 in support of the drive. The Elande 1st side will play in their pink outfit on the day. The Elande women’s senior side will play Wits Ladies in a tens game starting at 12h00. Calling on the community to come down to support the initiative entrance will be free.
GOING TO POTCH A DAY TO REMEMBER
Taking a bus to Potchefstroom is always a mental thing to know you playing against the best University in South Africa. Before the bus left all players and management were treated with food parcels for the long road. The spirit was very high under the players singing songs together. The rugby did not go very well. All sides lost to Pukke. Coming back to Johannesburg the spirit kept on going that made the road shorter. Some players travelled for the first time to Potchefstroom hopefully it was a huge learning curve.

The Elande will travel to Potchefstroom this Saturday in their 3 rd last match of the season agaist the Pukke.
WOMENS RUGBY TO THE NEXT LEVEL
The Elande entered 3 sides in the Uj 7s competition. They played the tournament over 2 days. The teams did very well they won some games and lost a couple of games. the senior ladies side took on Randfontein yesterday and beaten their counterparts 24-0. The u18 side won their last game 24-10 and the u16 side got the full points due to a withdrawal from the opponents. The u16 and u18 is made up from various schools in the south of Johannesburg. The aim is to enter the 3 sides into a league from next year. Calling all ladies who wants to join the Elande can call Mickey on 076 513 0572 and Andrew on 083 520 0428.

The Elande will have a break this weekend. After a tough game day against Randfontein a bye came at the right time. The Elande will travel to Potchefstroom next week when they they take on Pukke in their 3rd last match for the year. The 3 last games will be against Pukke, Wits and Uj. The Elande woman’s u16, u18 and senior side will play at Uj this weekend in a 7 a side tournament.

It is a honor to play for the Elande and a privileged to play for the 1st side. Brendon Schafer could not play against Raiders due to a calf injury. He reached his hundred games that puts him in the legend group at the Elande. No 8 Shaun Potgieter played his 50 th game against Raiders. The Elande is very proud of these 2 players.
ELANDE SILENCES CRITICS
A showpiece it was. A few missed kicks cost the Elande the game against Raiders. In the 1st side game all critics were silenced when the Elande came very close in beating Raiders. This game was a humdinger. Final score 54-50 in favor of Raiders. The 2nd side and u21s lost their games. The 3rd side and u19 had good victories against Raiders.

Again the day was saved by the 2 junior sides at Kent Park. Good wins by the u19s, u21s and the 3rd side. The 1st and 2nd side played some good rugby at times but Wanderers proved to strong for the Elande senior sides.

The Elande will travel to Kent Park this Saturday to take on Wanderers Rugby Club. This will be a good encounter to watch. The last time the Elande won 3 out of 5 games on the day. Their aim this week will be 5 out of 5 games.
ELANDE READY TO GO FOR THE GOLDEN LIONS 7S
The Elande entered an Eland Gladiators, Eland Warriors for the seniors, an Eland and Eland Njulas for the u20s and an Eland Women teams for the competition. The Womens Eland team will be the first ever women’s side who entered a women side in any competition for the Alberton Rugby Club. The 7s will start at 08h00 on Saturday and Sunday.

The popular 7s tournament will be hosted by Alberton Rugby Club this weekend. All the Lions clubs will take part in this tournament. Senior Womens sides will also be part of this prestige’s event. The Supa Barbarians side played at Pirates against the Uganda National side last night. They defeated the Uganda Cranes 41-13.
LINDO AND BENNIE PART OF THE ELANDS LEGEND STATUS
Lindo Dladla 100 games and Bennie Botes 150 games became part of the Alberton Rugby clubs Legends status. Both players were honored and capped for their contributions at the Elande. They received their capping before they ran on the field when they played Pirates last Saturday. Both players have been stalwarts the past 10 and 12 years at the club. Hopefully they can proceed to don another 50 games each.
ELANDE BLOSSOMS MAKING HUGE STRIDES
Women’s rugby at the Elande is currently improving in numbers. New coach Andrew Morgenrood joint the team as a backline coach this week. Together with forward coach Mickey Oosthuizen will form a formidable combination to take the blossoms to higher levels. Next week a senior women’s side will enter the Lions 7 a side competition at Eland Park which will run over two days the 13th and 14 th of July. The same afternoon the Golden Lions Women side will play Western Province. On 13 and 14 th July the women sides will participate at Uj in a 7 a side competition. They will be entering a u16 , u18 and a senior side.

This coming Saturday the Elande will step up another level when they take on Pirates in a second round league game at Eland Park. Games will start at 13h15.
MIXED SUCCESS FOR THE ELANDE AT BASTION HIGH SCHOOL AGAINST ROODEPOORT
A great start on the a- field saw some vintage rugby played by the 3rd side. They were fighting for the win up till the last minute of the game. A superb attack between the forwards and the backs from their own half saw them dotted down in the last seconds of the game. A win to be remembered. The second game the 2nd side took the field with the additional 3rd side players due to late withdrawals during the week at training due to injuries and work commitments. They treated the Eland supporters with the most exciting rugby display. Final score 26-22 to the Elande. The u19 side continued with their positive attitude and commitment when they outclassed Roodepoort 63-3. The u21 encounter Roodepoort took the game 22-12. The last game the 1st side squandered many opportunities. They could not find any continuity against Roodepoort. The game ended up in a win for Roodepoort who is currently last on the log. Final score 20-12 to Roodepoort.

REVENGE FOR THE LIONS WOMEN
The Lions women team took on The Sharks last Saturday at Eland Park at Alberton Rugby Club. This was a very close encounter between the two sides. The Lions kept on putting pressure on the Sharks and ended with a good win to the Lions Women. Final score 34-33 to the Lions.
A MUST WIN FOR THE ELANDE AGAINST ROODEPPORT
The Elande will travel to the West Rand this coming Saturday. Both sides are currently bottom of the log. The Elande won the first round game at home. A win will keep the West Randers at the bottom of the log. Games will start at 13H15.

It was not a easy night for Uj. The 3rd side started of with a win of 14-07 which came as a huge surprise to Uj. The 3rd side was the league champions last year. The u21 side lost 28-14. The u 19s who is currently 3rd on the log lost 47-19. The 2nd side lost 47-14. The 1st side was down 22-0 at halftime. When they took the field second half it was a totally different side. They scored 17 points against Uj’s 11 points. Final score 31-17 to Uj.
TRIBUTE TO SANDILE THE ” GENTLE GIANT “
Gone but not forgotten. A tribute to Sandile was held on Saturday before the game by Club Manager Rory Lategan. The last rugby jersey Sandile played in against Wits was handed over together with a canvass picture of Sandile to the family. Then a minute silence was held before the match of the 3rd side who Sandile played for against Uj. The 3rd side played this match for Sandile and ended up with a well deserved win 14-07. RIP Sandile.

The Elands’ 1st side no 8 Shaun Potgieter was selected to play for the Andre Besters Suparugby Babarians invitational side. They will be playing against an international side from Uganda. This game will take place on 2nd July. The venue was not announced yet. Potties as he is know as is a stalward for the Elande for a couple of years. He also played for the Amateur Lions side. He deserves to play at a higher lever. From school days Potties showed huge rugby talent on the field. The game will take place at Pirates Rugby Club. The game will be played in true Barbarian style and the side is selected from the Castle Lager Pirates Grand Challenge clubs.

The Eland family lost one of their dedicated players. Sandile Mthethwa (33) passed away in the early hours of this morning. He was one of our 3rd side players at the Alberton Rugby Club. ELANDE NEEDS TO PICK UP PACE AGAINST UNIVERSITY OF JHB
Commitment is the order of the day. All sides from the Elande will have to change their mind set when they take on Uj at home this Saturday. A couple of wins will see the Elande moving up the log to better their positions in the Castle Lager Pirates Grand Challenge. Again the club is hoping for a full stadium this coming Saturday. ELAND JUNIOR TEAM STILL ON PAR WITH UNVERSITIES
The Eland u19 team came close to a win in yesterdays encounter at Wits. After trialing 14-0 in the 1st 10 minutes the young Eland cubs came back and nearly shocked Wits at the end. A late penalty saved Wits at the end of the day final score 29-28 to Wits. Good rugby from both clubs in the other games produced some good ready by Wits winning all other games.

PUKKE CAME TO PROOF A POINT
The Pukke came all the way from Potchefstroom to treat the spectators with attractive running rugby. The Elande did not make it very easy for the students. The scores sounds worse then the actual rugby on the field. The u19 side kept Pukke at bay and the halftime score was 0-0. The final score 26-0. The Pukke denied all other teams to cross the white line on several occasions.
LEAVING THE ELANDE AFTER 8 YEARS
One of the Elande stalwards “Axe” Xhadi Makalima played his last game for the Elande against Pukke last Saturday. He is moving to Springs. The Elande wants to wish him all the best on his new venture. His contribution to the club will always be cherished. He was a warrior on the field and a true gentleman off the field. A loss to the Elande and a gain to his new venture.

ELANDE JUNIOR SIDES ALIVE
Travelling to Randfontein on a Friday night is not an easy task. The Elande u19 and u21 sides proved far to strong for their opponents. Both sides playing running and constructive rugby and opened the gates scoring several tries in these two matches. In the 1st, 2nd and 3rd side matches many opportunities went astray by not getting to the white line. Randfontein` s open sides playing with physical forwards led the way for their wins on the night. Up to 30 minutes in the first half the score was still even in the 1st side match. Injuries to the Elande also influenced their rhythm and game plan in the second half.
RANDFONTEIN IN EYE SIGHT
This coming Friday night the Elande will travel to Randfontein. Not playing Randfontein for several years will be a a good contest on the day. Randfontein came up from the lower league this year they doing well and beaten both Universities Wits and Uj and beating Pirates last week. Good wins for The Elande beating Roodepoort and Raiders.

The Eland Stadium erupted. A fully packed crowd saw the Elande swept Raiders of the park in a historical win over Raiders in years. A good evening of rugby it was indeed. A Raiders team to their full potential was not good enough for the Elande. A well drilled side on the evening made it look easy with a convincing win of 27-17. The Elande won 4 out of 6 games.

The Elande had a bad start to the game. To many mistakes throughout the game gave Wanderers a head start and lead 28-0 at halftime. The Elande will have to improve this Saturday when they take on Raiders at the Bill Jardene Stadium. Final score 33-05 to Wanderers. The 2nd side had a good win and the 3rds lost narrowly. The u21 side will also have to pick up their game against Raiders the final score against Wanderers 12-05 to Wanderers. The u19 Eland side had a run away victory of 50-13. the 4th side won 15-14.

ELANDE TAKE ON WANDERERS THIS COMING SATURDAY
The Elande had good wins against Wanderers last year. The beginning of the year Wanderers one of the oldest clubs in the Lions League nearly closed their doors due to lack of players. Sponsors came on board and new coaching staff were brought in with new players and that saved the day for the club. The Elande will face a newly created club this coming Saturday. So far Wanderers had a couple of good wins and last Friday they shocked everybody by beating UJ. The Elande only lost 1 game out of six games this year. They are more a balanced and matured side this year and we looking forward when the two clubs take each other on this weekend.

Decision’s had to be made by Referee Pro Lakota on the lightning on the players safety before the start of the games. The u21 and 3rd side match started and then stopped and then re started when both games were called of after 10 minutes of play. Both games will be rescheduled for another date. The Elande 1st side gave an excellent 1st half performance and kept Pirates away from the white line till the last minute in the 1st half. Score was 7 all. Two yellow cards turned the game in Pirates favor in the second half. Final score 28-7. The 4th side side lost 35-5 to Pirates.
ELANDE TRAVEL TO GREENSIDE TO TAKE ON PIRATES
The Elande will travel to Greenside to take on Pirates in the 2nd round of the Castle Lager Pirates Grand Challenge. The Elande and Pirates is in a fortunate position to field a 4th side to give players game time. After good wins against Roodepoort last week, and with the Elande on a good roll will be a very exciting encounter between the two clubs. Matches will start at 18h15.
SPRINGBOK 2024 SEASON
The fixtures for the Springboks were announced starting 22 June 24 in London against Wales. This will be a good scouting process for Rassie Erasmus to build a new squad leading to the next world cup.

CASTLE LAGER ACTIVATION AT ELAND PARK
When the Elande took on Roodepoort on Friday night the Castle Lager activation took place at Eland Park. Castle Lager branded the club for the night. The community came down and filled up the pavilion and were treated to a show piece of rugby. The game were also lived streamed on you tube. There will be another 2-3 activations during the year at Eland Park.
ELANDE BREAKING 12 YEAR DROUGHT
a Night to remember at Eland Park. The Elande set up new records on the night by beating Roodepoort in the 1 st side, 2nd side, a draw in the u/21 and gaining 5 bonus points in the u/19 game. Our 3rd side and the league champions for 2023 lost 33-14. In twelve years the 1st side never had a win against Roodepoort. They produced a stunning performance on the night that kept Roodepoort on their back feet. The spectators were treated on a show piece of rugby on the night.
Shaun Potgieter the Elande no 7 had an outstanding performance on the night and was awarded the Castle Lager player of the evening.

LIONS WOMEN OUTCLASS EP KINGS
A more improved Lions Women’s side stole the show at The Eland Park in Alberton today with attractive running rugby. Scoring 5 tries to 1 try and the final score to the Lions 25-7. Their next game will be up against the Sharks in Durban next Saturday.
ELANDE TO STRONG FOR RAIDERS JUNIORS
The Elande u19 and u21 sides were all geared up when they took on their counterparts Raiders. The u19 Elande ran in 7 tries with Raiders only scoring 3 tries. Final score 43 – 17 to the Elande. In the u21 match the first 15 minutes was an even game till the Elande found their rhythm and ran in 6 tries to Raiders 3 tries. Full time score 36-17 to the Elande.

The Elande will host Roodepoort Rugby Club on 19 April 24. This will be the 1st league game of the season for the Elande. The game will be played under flood lights on the Friday night. After a successful preseason with good friendlies and a couple of good wins behind the Elande this is not a game to be missed. Castle lager will be our host for the night.

The Golden Lions Women rugby side will return to the Eland Park Stadium on Saturday the 13th when they take on the Eastern Province Women’s side. This will be their first game for the 2024 season. The Oom Lood Kleynhans A- field at Eland Park were in use for the first time this year after maintenance were done for several months. With the look alike of the old Newlands Stadium rugby field heavy under foot made it difficult for all to play on. The Elande played some champagne rugby which had the spectators on their front seats. The spectators were treated to a feast of tries.

TEAM BUILDING WEEKEND AWAY
Senior coaches took a senior squad of 30 players on a team building weekend away. This is an annual weekend where team building takes place with fitness sessions. This is where all players get to know each other on a different level. Some injured players will have the opportunity to prove to the coaches that they will be ready for the last friendly against Germiston Simmer at home on 6th of April.
ELANDE TRAVELLING TO BOKSBURG RUGBY CLUB
Part of our 2nd side, 3rd side and u21 side will travel to Boksburg to play in a friendly against Boksburg. A senior group of 30 players went on a rugby camp to Parys. The u 19 side will travel to Randfontein to play Randfontein u 19.

CASTLE LAGER PIRATES GRAND CHALLENGE CLUBS SHOOT
A photoshoot evening was held at Oxigen Studios in Braamfontein on Wednesday evening. Shoots were taken of all clubs participating in the league this year. Each club had 5 players, Coach and Ambassadors from the club.
DERBY TROPHY BACK AT HOME – RESULTS
A well organized Derby encounter by Diggers. A packed stadium enjoyed all games on a blistering sunny day with very high temperature. The games were scored on a balance score card system. All games were very close. The first side game were also very close till after halftime when The Elande started opening the match by playing wide and scored several tries. The Trophy was handed over to the Elande for the second year in a row.

SECOND LOUIS ODENDAAL DIGGERS DERBY FOR 2024
The Louis Odendaal Diggers Derby will take place at Diggers on Saturday. Alberton and Diggers will be contesting for the trophy for the second time. Alberton won the 2023 Derby. Both clubs did up their numbers this year. Travelling to Randburg is always a tough one to compete on the day. This Derby were introduced by Alberton and it will be a rivalry on a yearly basis for years to come between the two clubs.
CASTLE LAGER PIRATES GRAND CHALLENGE 2024 SEASON
The fixtures for 2024 were announced by The Lions for the 2024 season. Nine clubs will compete this year which will make it a stronger competition. The clubs who will be competing are Pukke, Uj, Wits, Roodepoort, Raiders, Randfontein, Alberton, Wanderers and Pirates.

CONDOLANCES TO KAIDENS FAMILY
A player from Jeppe High School Kaiden Bowie who was involved with youth rugby at the Golden Lions for years collapsed and passed away during a match played last week. Our sincere condolences to Kaiden’s family and friends, team mates during this time.

The Elande will their own news letter as from end of February 24. The news will be available on a monthly basis. This will keep all players, supporters and the community updated to what is happening at the club. This is one of a kind of new things that will happen at the club during 2024. TRAVELLING TO NIGEL WORTH WHILE FOR THE ELANDE
The Elande scooped two great wins with their encounter against Nigel. The Elande Yellow team took the field in their first game of the season and showed some excellent game plays throughout the game. Lack of proper match fitness they still pulled it through with a 19-15 win. Then the Brown side took the field and within a couple of minutes took the lead. Squandering 5 tries in the first half at halftime they were leading 33-3. Also a lack of fitness slowed down the game in the second half with the Elande winning the game 40-17. The Elande u21 side played at Germiston Simmer and walking off the field with a great 40-21 win.
TRAVELLING TO NIGEL FOR FIRST 2024 FRIENDLY
After a successful trial day last week 2 senior sides will travel to Nigel Rugby Club tomorrow for further scouting which will give the coaches the opportunity for final decisions in certain positions. Nigel has always been tough opposition over the years. This will be Alberton’s first friendly for 2024.

TAMZIN FLYING HIGH
Alberton rugby clubs stalwart Tamzin Valentine and current 1st side team manager was included in the Golden Lions Youth Rugby Exco 2023 committee. She was appointed as Planning and Event coordinator. Tamzin will be on duty as 1st side team manager for the 2024 season. A lady with great vision for the sport will be a great asset to the Lions in the years to come. PROUD TOUCH RUGBY SPRINGBOKS
The Alberton Rugby Club is very proud to announce that Divan du Plessis and Henry Payne is part of the Springbok touch rugby side that will take part in the World Cup Nottingham 2024 Men’s Open. Both players are members at the club for several years and started their junior club rugby at Alberton. Divan and Hendry was also part of the 3rd side who won the Cup against Pirates in the final this year. We just want to congratulate them on this achievement.
